Shaping the Future of Solar: Insights from the 1st International Perovskite Workshop

1st International Workshop on “Best Practices in Perovskite Solar Cell Fabrication & Scale-Up”, funded by Scheme for Promotion of Academic Research and Collaboration (SPARC), was successfully hosted by CeNSE and ABX3PV Pvt Ltd on 6 March 2026.

This unique workshop brought together researchers, academics, industry experts, and students to discuss key challenges in translating perovskite solar cell technology from laboratory research to scalable industrial manufacturing.

A unique set of interactive mini group discussions and a high-level panel session highlighted important topics including photophysics, device engineering, manufacturing challenges, reliability, and scale-up pathways with both – India and Global Perspectives. The workshop also helped identify critical research gaps and industry needs for advancing perovskite photovoltaics.

A white paper covering all these aspects will be published shortly – keep an eye out for more details!

“Train the Trainer” model by CeNSE-LAM recognised by CII at the Industry-Academia Partnership Awards 2025

Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), in collaboration with Lam Research India, successfully conducted a structured training programme aimed at strengthening semiconductor education using the industry-standard SEMulator3D platform.

Lam Research India supported the programme by providing access to the SEMulator3D semiconductor fabrication simulation platform, delivering dedicated training sessions for students and faculty, promoting awareness across academia and industry, and helping create employability opportunities for trained students through its industry network.

The initiative trained over 60 selected faculty members and 2800 Engineering Students from various academic institutions across India. These faculty were instrumental in launching semiconductor-focused courses in their respective institutes. The cohort of high-performing students received both hands-on training at IISc and virtual simulator training, significantly enhancing their practical understanding and job readiness.

The Long-term target of the program is aim for 190 institutes and 60,000 Engineering Students.

The programme was recognised for establishing a successful pilot and scalable- feasible model for large-scale semiconductor skill development, aligned with the goals of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).

A Proud Milestone: Patent Awarded to Dr. Gayathri Pillai and Team

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Gayathri Pillai, Assistant Professor at CeNSE, IISc, and her research group have been granted a patent titled: “Resonators having laterally stacked ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials.”

This innovation advances the design of next-generation resonators by integrating ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials in a novel lateral architecture, opening new possibilities for high-performance microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and advanced sensing technologies.

Congratulations to Dr. Pillai and her team on this important milestone!
