Abstract

Back Cover: In article number 1700543 by Manoj Varma and co‐workers, the fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) technique is used to probe diffusion coefficients in ultrathin polyelectrolyte multilayer films (PEM). Alternate layers of polycation and polyanion together form the PEM assembly, and two sets of PEM films (thick and ultrathin) are immersed in water to facilitate the diffusion of fluorophores in PEM films. The recovery in thick PEM occurs only through polymer layers, while for ultrathin PEM, the dominant recovery process is through the solution medium, rendering conventional FRAP data analysis inappropriate for estimation of transport parameters.
